Causes and Treatments
While some people may have naturally thin lips, they can also be a sign of ageing, sun exposure, or a result from smoking. As you get older the collagen in your lips breaks down and the muscles tire, leaving your lips looking and feeling thinner. This can also lead to wrinkles around the lips.

Lip Fillers
With near immediate results (lips start developing from 48 hours following treatment) and lasting up to 12 months, lip fillers involves injecting a clinically-proved, developed solution under your skin with a fine needle to plump and fill the lips. A solution called Juvéderm®, which contains hyaluronic acid, is used to replace the natural substance in your skin that repairs damaged tissue.
Natural Remedies
Some store-cupboard favourites can produce a plumping effect on your lips. A cinnamon lip scrub, honey, and clove oil can all stimulate blood flow and make your lips look fuller.
Use a lip liner, darker than your lipstick. By applying the darker liner on the outside of your mouth, it will create a nice effect that will make your lips look plumper. Blend two lipsticks. When your lipstick gradually gets lighter in the centre of the lips, it creates the appearance of fuller lips.
Similar to the effect hot temperatures may cause to your lips, cold weather can make your lips become chapped and dry. Try to avoid licking your lips as this will dry out the lips even more.
Lip fillers are injected into the lip in the form of a vial. A vial is simply a measurement of injectable liquid administered during the treatment. Typically a lip filler treatment would require one or two vials, depending on the effect that needs to be created. There are several brands including Juvéderm® dermal fillers as lip fillers to create volume, re-contour, or add definition to the lips. Juvederm® contains Hyaluronic acid, a substance which naturally occurs in the body and so it’s completely safe to use.
